What is spray coating?

Spray coating is a modern method for pipe lining in which liquid polyester resin is sprayed into the damaged pipe from the inside. The material dries in layers, automatically forming a new, fully intact pipe inside the old one—without any need to break through walls, ceilings, or floors.

The result is a seamless interior coating that provides lasting protection for the piping system against corrosion, cracking, and leaks, while maintaining the pipe’s full flow capacity.

How does the spray coating process work?

The spray coating process follows a clearly defined, proven procedure—from the initial inspection to final approval: Depending on the application—as determined by TV inspection—we use the optimal coating system.

Step 1: Inspection and Cleaning

Before the renovation, the affected pipe system is thoroughly cleaned and fully inspected using a camera. Deposits, residues, and loose sections of the pipe walls are systematically removed.

Step 2: Drying the pipe wall

The cleaned pipe is dried so that the polyester resin adheres optimally to the inner wall and the coating can be applied evenly.

Step 3: Spraying the coating material

A specially designed rotating head applies the liquid polyester resin evenly and completely to the entire inner surface of the pipe. The device can handle even complex pipe runs, 90° branches, and hard-to-reach areas—covering up to 33 meters in a single pass.

Step 4: Curing and Release

The plastic cures in layers, forming a smooth, sturdy new inner wall. Within a few hours, the pipe system is fully operational again. Learn more

Applications for Spray Coating

From the foundation slab to the roof—including industrial wastewater treatment plants—Spray Coating provides protection for your wastewater pipes.

Renovation without interrupting operations

No production stoppage due to pipe renovation

Renovating sewer lines in historic buildings without damaging the building structure

Advantages of Spray Coating – Why This Process Stands Out

Compared to traditional renovation methods, spray coating offers significant advantages—especially in sensitive environments where operational disruptions and construction noise are unacceptable—and is complemented byprofessional diagnostics.

Done in hours instead of weeks

While conventional pipe renovations take days or even weeks, the rehabilitated pipe system is fully operational again within just a few hours using the spray coating method.

Permanent corrosion protection

Der ausgehärtete Polyester-Kunststoff schützt das Rohrsystem langfristig vor Korrosion, erneuter Rissbildung und Undichtigkeiten. Eine weitere Leckage an der sanierten Stelle ist ausgeschlossen.

No demolition – no noise – no disruption to operations

Since there is no need to open up walls, floors, or ceilings, day-to-day operations remain completely undisturbed. Tenants, patients, and staff are not affected.

Significantly more cost-effective than installing new lines

When considering total costs—excluding chiseling, drywall work, painting costs, and material disposal—spray coating is significantly more cost-effective than traditional pipe replacement.

Frequently Asked Questions About Spray Coating

Everything you need to know about innovative pipe coating and related services.

How long does a spray coating renovation last?

What is the minimum pipe diameter for spray coating?

This method can be used for pipes with an inside diameter of DN 40 mm or larger—typically up to DN 200 mm in building applications. Additional rehabilitation methods are available for larger nominal diameters.

How long does a spray coating renovation take?

Depending on the length and condition of the affected section, the process usually takes only a few hours. Once the curing time has elapsed, the pipe system is immediately ready for use again.

Will I have to suspend operations during the renovation?

No—that is one of the key advantages of this process. Spray coating can be performed during normal operations without the need to evacuate employees, tenants, or customers.

Is spray coating also suitable for older buildings with older plumbing?

Yes. The process works with many common pipe materials—including SML and gray cast iron—and is therefore particularly suitable for older buildings and existing properties where extensive chiseling work would be disproportionately costly.
